Bill Daly "YES"

When asked in an interview on Hockey Night in Canada, NHL Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly, told listeners there will be an NHL season this year.  He was asked point blank, and given YES or NO as his options for response.

Now this may sound encouraging to us diehard hockey fans that want to cling to any word that we may get to watch hockey this year, but these sides are moving further away, not closer together.  As I put in a previous post, to me, this is simply inexcusable and amazing that a professional sports league will allow this to happen.  I refuse to listen to any of this anymore.  Until I am at another hockey game, will I believe anything. In the meantime, Nike released a commercial, that if you are a true to the core hockey fan....you will just get it!

Enjoy! (Bonus points for every person in this video you can name!!)

WOW...Mark Sanchez Really is THAT Bad!!

Ok...so this weekends football recap is an interesting one for sure!!

For starters (or not gonna be any longer), Mark Sanchez is done.  There was a time this kid possessed the tools and the confidence to succeed as an NFL QB, unfortunately it is painful to watch him take the field and embarrass himself play after play.  His confidence is shot! Nobody has ever needed a shrink more than this guy!!  Thankfully the Jets are out of the playoffs, meaning the Jets soap opera QB issue can be forgotten....cause nobody ever cared anyway!!

Niners Vs Pats - San Fran gave a solid whoopin on the Pats for the first 3 quarters of this game.  Tom Brady really had no business making the comeback they did...but that is why is considered among the best.  Kaepernick is for real.  The scariest part about that, is the Niners can now shop Alex Smith to another team and get quality in return....I know a certain New York team looking for a credible starter!!  The funny part of this game was the kick off call that caused a 25 minute delay to sort out.  PLEASE if anyone can clearly explain what the heck happened there...let me know!!

Raiders Vs Chiefs - Raiders are showing signs of improvement, but they still can't seem to get into the endzone.  MacFadden is looking like the star back the Raiders have been waiting for all season.  The defense was making tackles up front...which they have not been able to do with any consistency.  The shutout is no doubt a confidence booster for a struggling team, but let's not get too excited....Chiefs offense is about as bad as it gets!!

Cardinals Vs Lions - If the Cardinals took a timeout every time their offense took the field, they would have 3 more wins this season! Their defense IS that good!  Unfortunately, with the offense going 3 and out almost every time they take the field, the Cards defense is the most overworked unit in the NFL...it is NOT their fault they are falling apart.  This was a great win for the DEFENSE, as the offense again did little to help the team.

Giants Vs Atlanta - So the Giants are perennial late season threats, many of their players emotionally motivated by the nearby tragedy in Connecticut, and the Falcons have been flashing weakness ever since their undefeated season came to an end a few weeks ago....this would have been one of the games I would have thought was the bettors dream....Giants for the easy win, right?!  WRONG!!! The Falcons came to play.  This was one of those games that Falcons clearly wanted it more.  Giants looked sloppy while the Falcons looked near flawless.

Meanwhile around the rest of the league - Another loss for the Eagles puts Andy Reid that much closer to another teams sidelines.  A gutsy decision by not activating a seemingly healthy RGIII, Shanahan probably solidified another season for himself, by getting a critical win against an improving Browns team.  Peyton Manning looks as good as ever, but Adrian Peterson is playing at another level than the entire NFL....the MVP will go to AP...along with another major record!!  If the Seahawks and Saints could play that well every week,,,this would be an entirely different season.

How I saw today in sports....

Lakers suck! Suns fans rejoice, not because they wish any ill will towards Steve Nash's current endeavor, but because he left an expected loser to join a disappointing embarrassment!!

NHL season is pretty much in the can.  Screw Gary Bettman. Screw Donald Fehr. Screw greed.

Eagles have a new quarterback....believe it or not, Nick Foles is for real. He WILL be their quarterback of the future....unless they trade him to the Raiders or Cardinals, in which case he will be selling cars by 2015.

Bengals, on the other hand, have some good things goin...doors open as others close.  Next season - Ravens out, Patriots out, Steelers out.  Bengals in, Colts in (they are now!), Redskins in.

Haven't honestly been payin much attention to MLB, but there is definitely some money flyin around...I'll talk about that later!!

By the way, you saw those NFL predictions here first!!

NHL- GET IT DONE!!!!

NHL - Today is your day.  If you do not walk out of today's meetings with a start date to this NHL season, you have not only solidified your place in the basement of American pro sport leagues, but you will have locked the door behind you!!

First, I hated Bettman (just to be clear, I have really changed that one!).  I blame him for being the only commissioner in sports to be so willing to scrap an entire season over an amount of money that is less than the loss incurred during that lost season.  For people that seem so obsessed with numbers, I is amazing that they can ignore that one!

Second, I hated the owners.  They started off with a deal that was significantly worse than what they all agreed on the last time we lost a season.  The "talks" as one-sided as they seem to continue to be can not get very far if the owners seem to be shut down from the start.

Now....COME ON PLAYERS!!!  I have started to watch AHL hockey.  I will even tune into a few KHL games as can catch them.  Some of the international elite players are getting too comfortable playing elsewhere.  That firm ground you have to stand on, is beginning to crumble.  Vote out Donald Fehr (complete idiot with questionable loyalties) and get this deal done!!

The sad nature to professional sports, is the fact that we raise our children to be active and athletic. We raise them to have a healthy competitive nature.  They look up to the pro level athletes of whatever sport they cling to as a child.  EVERY Pro league and even the refs have had labor disputes, resulting in either cancellation of games or second rate game being played.  SCREW THE MONEY!!! You guys ALL make enough.  I understand there is a "business" to it all.  I understand that as a player that literally brings in the money, you would want a bigger piece of the pie.  I get all of that.  But there comes a point where it becomes way bigger than your money, your team, or your sport.

On a side note....If we no longer have a NHL, and adopt a semi-global view towards the game similar to soccer, the "World Cup" of hockey would be HUGE!!!!

Cowboys Show Class in Support of Troubled Teammate

Let me get this straight....4 days ago, an NFL player kills his friend and teammate in a drunk driving car accident, and was on the practice field today?!?!  I am sure Josh Brent is overcome with guilt and regret for the actions he took leading to the death of his friend, and for that I respect the Cowboys for standing by their player in letting him know he is supported and not alone....I can't even imagine what could be going through his mind.

Now let's get to the actual issue at hand.  The man is charged with Vehicular Manslaughter and faces a potentially lengthy term in prison.  How is there nothing in place that doesn't block the player from returning after a) violating alcohol policies. b) getting charged with a felony involving the DEATH of someone c) protecting the player himself?!

Only a week earlier, The Chiefs faced a tragedy when Jovan Belcher took his own life.  Brady Quinn had the most poignant comments addressing how do we really know what is going on in someones head.  Right now, nobody knows what is going on in Josh Brent's head, but I can be pretty sure it is not good.  Pro calibre athletes live their lives under more pressure than most people will ever see in a lifetime.  When you exist like that, it is understandable to "snap".  Now I am not saying Josh Brent is a danger to himself right now, but the league should protect the player, the team, and the NFL by respecting the circumstances in this man's life right now.  DO NOT allow him on the field.  If not as punishment for violation of league conduct policies, if not for breaking the law, for the simple fact that the man needs some time.  His teammates are showing true class by showing their support for him.  That is where it should stay.  Let him face this challenge as Josh Brent the man, not Josh Brent another tragic NFL conduct tragedy.

I'm BAAAACCCKKKK!!!!

Ok...I am done doing the Brett Favre thing...I REALLY am gonna start writing on this thing....maybe.  Stay tuned.  My goal is to pretty much weigh in on whatever I feel like.  If you don't like it...GREAT!! That is the beauty of sports...leave me a comment and let the fun begin!!
